I actually get paid for writing! How? Through this - my website.

Over a year ago I would have never seen this coming! Doug and I are recently married. We have a blended family with five children with four still at home. I worked full-time, but NOT as a writer. Not even close.

I was a gospel singer for twenty years. When I was forty I graduated with my first college degree. My degree landed me a full time job in corporate America for seven years. I didn't get paid for writing in either of my careers, music or corporate America.

I had days I hated my corporate job. At first I only hated it occasionally. Then... it began to be an everyday hate. So I would sit and dream about things like, "Wouldn't it be cool if I could get paid for writing?" Hmmmm. Then, I'd think "What would I write about?" I'd answer myself and say ANYTHING that would be fun. My dream was really cute because I wasn't even a writer! My job had very little writing involved.



I didn't give up! I looked at it this way:

If people were online reading then someone was writing.

And if someone was writing. Somebody somewhere was getting paid to write what I was reading!

Sure a lot of people wrote for free. But not everybody! I wanted to be one of those people to get paid for writing. I wanted to write about stuff I loved. Not corporate drivel. One caveat though....



Why online? I had a full-time corporate job. I had to be in a cube EVERYDAY. UGH! A career change was impossible. Too, it was not feasible. Two of my kids were still at home. I was newly married and we had two mortgages both his house and my house.

So, I had to be able to get paid writing something that didn't require me getting a new job. And that meant it had to be something online!

The only thing I ever wrote was lame corporate e-mails, meeting minutes, business cases, and all that corporate babble. It was all stuff I HAD to write! And I definitely didn't get paid for writing it per se. It was part of the whole job description thing I had to do.



I searched FOR MONTHS! I Googled. I Yahoo'ed. I went to the library. It was my personal quest. I even surfed the web while I was at work! *Gasp* I know. Who would really do that? Ok, me! I just kept at it hour after hour in between all my meetings day to day work drudgery.



I found a way to get paid for writing about my recipes, my hobbies, my passions, my experiences! And bonus there was a way to - GET PAID FOR IT!
